Mercy Sisters Welcome and Affirm Pope Francis' Call for Global Action on Climate Change
The 2010 Chapter Statement from the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta, in which we re-affirmed our commitment to respond mercifully to our suffering earth, has found resonance in the latest Encyclical from Pope Francis.

In "Laudato Si (Praise be to You)," addressing "every person living on this planet", Pope Francis wishes to "enter into dialogue with all people about our common home".
In the same way, the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta through our 4th Vow Social Justice Group and our Ecology Group, strive to promote dialogue, advocacy and action to respond to the many issues facing our planet today.
We also welcome the response of Caritas Australia in promoting a Global Catholic Climate Movement petition which will be presented to world leaders, including Australian Prime Minister, at the Global Climate Negotiations in December 2015.
