Education

Our ministries in education include the education of children and adults both in the classroom and beyond.

Within schools, sisters work particularly with children and families who are in need of additional support such as those with learning needs, recently resettled refugees, or those for whom English is a second language. Sisters are often a liaison between the school and family home.

In the adult education field, sisters work in partnership with others to raise consciousness and challenge misconceptions in relation to the vital issues which confront us locally and globally. Such areas include ecology and care of the environment; refugee and asylum seeker policy; indigenous affairs; and the relief of poverty and debt.

Participation in the foundation of an Australian Catholic University based centre for education and research in the field of women’s history has been a significant ministry for one of our sisters in collaboration with others.
