World Day of Peace - 1 January 2025
On January 1st, the Church around the world celebrates the 58th World Day of Peace. The theme chosen by Pope Francis for this year is "Forgive us our trespasses: grant us your peace"

"We will nurture relations that are kind, just, respectful and inclusive..." (Chapter Statement)
In his message for World Day of Peace 2025, Pope Francis calls for three actions: for wealthy countries to cancel the debt of poorer countries and develop a just international financial system, for the death penalty to be abolished everywhere and for, "at least, a fixed percentage" of armament budgets to be devoted to ending hunger and providing education for a sustainable future.
