National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day is held on the first Wednesday in May to honour and remember those people who have lost their lives due to domestic and family violence, as well as those who continue to suffer.

Domestic violence has now been acknowledged as a national crisis in Australia with twenty-seven women known to have been violently killed since the start of the year.
